How to Buy Refurbished iPhones
Buying a refurbished device is an easy way to save a few dollars. However, there are a few things you should always keep in mind when buying a refurbishment:
- Cosmetic defects: Many refurbished Apple iPhones are sold in “like new” condition. However, descriptions may change depending on the retailer. Therefore, we recommend that you always read the status of any iPhone before making any purchase. Some sites like Amazon list the information on the product page, but you may have to dig around to find it.
- Warranty Information: Refurbished iPhones purchased from the Apple Store all come with a one-year Apple warranty. Plus, you also get support for up to 90 days and the option to further protect your device with Apple Care. However, this is not always the case with refurbishments sold by other retailers. We therefore recommend that you always research warranty information and, if possible, avoid purchasing refurbished Apple iPhones without warranty information listed.
- Return Information: Buyer’s remorse is real. For this reason, you need to know the return window for your refurbished device. Apple, for example, has a 14-day return policy, while Amazon has a 90-day policy.
