PUM provides for a comprehensive web UI.  All administration of PUM i.e. the setting of centralized Access Policy etc. is carried out through PUMAdmin, the web UI for PUM Administrators.  Access Policy screenIn order to access PUMAdmin a PUM Administrator must have the appropriate access rights, and these access rights (known as Capabilities) within PUM determine which PUM objects they may manage and also the level of management (whether they can add, delete, update or just view an object).  These Capabilities are allocated at the Role level.

The PUMAdmin web UI provides all the functionality expected of a modern product, including:

  • Structured menus;
  • Entity Relationship Diagrams that display the inter-relationships between the PUM objects;
  • Inline help linked to context sensitive expanded help for every screen and for every field on every screen;
  • Graphical Calendars;
  • support for all modern web browsers;
  • support for the Tomcat, Glassfish, JBoss and WebSphere web application servers.

PUM also provides the PUM User, seeking privileged access through PUM, the option of using the PUMClient web UI rather than using their own SSH client (e.g. PuTTy).  There are a number of potential benefits to using the PUMClient web UI which may be of interest to the PUM User, including:PUMClient screenshot

  • Embedded SSH Client negates the need for a third party client;
  • Online and inline help including the option to request further information on the Access Policy structure;
  • Resizeable, multi-tab, Java terminal window which allows for the concurrent execution of commands on multiple Managed Servers.
  • support for all modern web browsers;
  • support for the Tomcat, Glassfish, JBoss and WebSphere web application servers.
