Warriors forward Josh Curran has been charged with grievous bodily harm and stealing a mobile phone.

Curran was involved in an incident earlier this month at a nightclub in Port Macquarie and police confirmed the incident to the Sydney Daily Telegraph that Curran has now been charged.

This follows an investigation that a 16-year-old boy was attacked and had his mobile phone stolen.

“Following investigations, investigators arrested a 23-year-old man after attending the Fortia Police station on Wednesday,” a police statement read.

“He was charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm, causing actual bodily harm and robbery.

“The man has been granted conditional bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 7 December.”

The 16-year-old boy is believed to have had his front teeth knocked out and facial injuries in the accident, which happened at 3am.

Warriors CEO Cameron George told The Telegraph the club would wait for the outcome of any action before deciding what steps to take.

“We at the club will now allow the legal process to be concluded before further consideration from our perspective,” George said.

The NRL’s no-fault policy excludes any player from playing if they have been charged with an offense that could result in up to 11 years in prison.

The crime Curran was charged with carries a maximum of 10 years in prison.
