People cheer and cheer as an apple juice truck recovers after a bus crash

People cheered and cheered as an overturned apple juice truck was brought back on four wheels after an accident.

Merseyside Police rushed to Lodge Lane in Toxteth around 7pm on Tuesday February 22 following reports of an accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered that a truck and a bus had crashed at the Riston Street junction, with the truck overturning.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service also attended the incident.

The person driving the van, who witnesses said was a man, was slightly injured.

Emergency services cordoned off an area of ​​Lodge Lane from Aspen Grove to Solway Street East.

Once a recovery vehicle arrived on the scene, officers pushed back the cordon, causing people eating inside the Middle Eastern restaurant to stay inside while the truck was recovered .

A woman who was eating at the time of the crash said the noise made her “drop her fork”.

She said: “We were sitting and I was eating when I saw the accident. The bus went into the back of the van and it fell.

“I dropped my fork because the noise was so loud. People went to see if the guy was okay, the guy came out and seemed fine when he left.

“We ate well, we just had to stay a little longer.”

Another eyewitness who owns a takeaway on Lodge Lane, said he heard a “huge banging noise”.

He said: “I heard a huge crashing noise and ran to look out the window and saw the van rocking on the road.

“The accident was very loud and a lot of people came out of the shops. Then the blue lights were everywhere and we were told to stay back.”

Before the tow truck attempted to move the truck, officers and firefighters were seen pulling out a metal cage filled with apple juice crates from the back.

When the vehicle finally landed on four wheels, people outside the cordon cheered and cheered.

Lodge Lane reopened to traffic around 10 p.m.
