The UK’s biggest network provider, EE, is facing outages in the country’s second-largest city, Greater Manchester, with users reporting a complete loss of cellular and data services.
Users in droves took to Twitter to report issues with the EE network for several hours on Wednesday, with the company acknowledging fault on Twitter noting that work is underway to restore service.
“We are sorry that a number of our customers are having difficulty using our mobile services,” the company said. “We are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
While a large proportion of complaints come from customers in Greater Manchester, local press in other parts of the country including London, Glasgow and Birmingham also report that a large number of EE users are also suffering from connection and failures.
Nearly eight hours after the first complaints started, services are still facing problems on the network. “Some customers are experiencing issues when trying to use network services this afternoon. We are aware of this and are working to resolve it as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
